Building on a Legacy of Innovation
Over the years, CSIR-IIR has contributed to Ghana’s industrial development by influencing policy and championing advocacy based on research finding to raise national psyche about the need for standards in addition to the underlisted specific contributions.
• Seminal research findings, CSIR-IIR highlighted the need for Ghana to have its own energy-efficiency standards and labelling which was done and now notably described as the “star ratings” for refrigerators and air conditioners and through similar efforts for the development of energy-efficiency standards for cookstoves in Ghana.
• For a lot of SME’s, CSIR-IIR product development, engineering support, measurement and calibration services is a one stop shop for industrial engineering solutions.
• Our specialised laboratories, engineering facilities and Industrial Innovation Hub (i²- Hub) which is a co-working space for SME’s and scientist provides an important foundation for research, technology development, Industry support and entrepreneurship.

Our Priorities and Leadership Commitments
Our priorities include sustainable energy, efficient utilisation of raw materials, waste-to-resource technologies, industrial machinery and components, and quality assurance through metrology. To advance these priorities, my leadership will be guided by five commitments: Results, Reporting, Repository, Recognition and Rewards. We will promote measurable performance, transparent reporting, proper documentation of research outputs to improve visibility, recognize the contributions of staff and partners in the achievement of our goals and fair rewards for resources invested. We will also ensure responsible management of institutional resources, accountability and value for money.

Partnership and a Call to Action
We believe industrial transformation is best achieved through strong partnerships. We will strengthen collaboration with industry, universities, government institutions, sister CSIR institutes and international development partners to translate research into practical solutions. I invite manufacturers, entrepreneurs, researchers and development partners to collaborate with CSIR-IIR in addressing technological gaps, production challenges, waste management and operational costs. Together, we can develop innovative and scalable solutions that strengthen Ghana’s industrial capacity and competitiveness.
